Beeflies (Bombyliidae – most genera) – parasite of herbivores (leaf feeders). By far, the majority of bee-flies are parasites of the immature Lepidoptera and grasshoppers. The most diverse genus, which is also very abundant, is Villa; this genus is comprised of a number of distinctive subgenera.
Two different species of Villa; species vary from bottle-fly size to bumblebee queen size. The long-tongued genera Geron and Phthiria, parasites of caterpillars, are tiny.
